The Challenge
Econet Wireless Zimbabwe (EWZ) has always felt that Dicomm is very strong on brand building and one would forgive them for taking this position given that it’s Dicomm that developed most of Econet iconic brand building campaigns like “Inspired to change the world”, “through ups and down, you’ve got a friend for Buddie, Econet look up to unveil the new logo in 2016.
When Econet Wireless Zimbabwe decided to shift from being a smart data network provider
and delve into the new era of a Digital Network, the team at Dicomm McCann was ready to help make this shift with them. Econet needed the market to know how their systems, services and products had now been automated for the customer’s convenience. This meant that a clear, yet intriguing communication campaign had to be rolled out to its targeted audience. We met with our client in the month of October 2019 over a cup of coffee and got straight into business. Their brief to us was crystal clear; “make the Digital Lifestyle Network shine.” And as you know, “shine” is our middle name and we do our best to live up to it!
Execution
We put on our thinking caps and came up with a great strategy for this campaign. Our communication centred upon the big idea- Enhancing Lives, and this is exactly what we wanted the campaign to achieve.
We created catchy campaign material that drew the attention of people all over Zimbabwe. We did a tv commercial, jingle, radio spots as well as social media posts.
We also engaged influencers to help us put out the message and that turned out to be a lot of fun.
Results
Our campaign was well received by our audience. We could tell that Econet’s customers now had a better understanding of all the digital products that Econet had put on the market. This campaign increased user engagement on the brand’s social media pages and product uptake.
